It is the goal of Badminton Europe to have Shuttle Time in at least 20 European countries by 2016. Currently 13 countries are implementing Shuttle Time. All these countries are in different stages of the Shuttle Time project. To support the implementation of Shuttle Time we need to keep on investing in human resources, therefore Badminton Europe in cooperation with Badminton World Federation (BWF) organized another Trainers’/Tutors’ course.

The Lithuanian Badminton Federation hosted the 4th Shuttle Time Trainers’/Tutors’ course in Kaunas, Lithuania from 28 February – 2 March 2014, to educate new trainers and tutors who then will be able to run their own courses in their own countries.

17 participants, from 9 different countries attended the course, directed by Joann Hughes BWF certificated Shuttle Time Expert from England. The course started in the classroom Friday morning, where participants were introduced to the Shuttle Time resources. The morning sessions always took place in the classroom. The participants were mainly working in groups, solving different problems and learning about how to effectively deliver Shuttle Time courses.

The second part of each day was held in the sport hall, where participants were able to practice their tutoring skills by the different tasks they were given. There were also a lot of practical exercises in groups mainly focusing on the role of a trainer and tutor. The main goal of the afternoon lessons was to allow participants to use the skills they have learned during the morning sessions in the classroom.

The participants were observed during the whole course and the results will be updated in a few weeks’ time.

At the moment Europe has 17 Shuttle Time Trainers and over 200 Shuttle Time Tutors educated by the 4 Shuttle Time Experts.
