After a four-year break, the RSL BWF/BEC Tutor Level 2 Coach Education Course made a triumphant return, bringing together ten highly educated tutors and coaches from across Europe.

The city of Lahti, located just north of Helsinki, Finland, warmly hosted this new edition of the course.

The participants came from Romania, Latvia, Ireland, Poland, Wales, and Hungary. The BEC trainer team, composed of Fran Dacal and Jeroen van Dijk, expertly guided the group to achieve their Tutor Level 2 competencies and equipping them to deliver Level 2 Coach Education courses in their respective countries.

Reflecting on a transformative learning experience
Van Dijk and Dacal shared their thoughts and perspectives as trainers. “We are really satisfied with the progression and development participants have shown throughout the course. They established high-level discussions and full engagement despite lengthy and very intense days.

The trainers were not the only ones expressing satisfaction; the participants themselves shared valuable insights and takeaways from the intensive two-and-a-half-day long course.

Monika Radowska, Latvia, reflected positively on her experience. shared her anticipation and satisfaction, stating, “After two years of trying to get in, I can finally continue developing myself both personally and professionally, and contribute to the growth of badminton across Europe."

Lukasz Moren, Poland, valued the diverse backgrounds of the participants, which enriched the learning experience. He stated, "I am eagerly looking forward to returning to Poland and delivering the first BWF Level 2 course in my country, helping to elevate our coaches to the next level."

Mari Carmen Casermeiro Gámez, BEC Development & High Performance Officer, also commented on the importance of resuming high-level courses after a hiatus, "Delivering such a high-level course is a very positive sign. The next step for these officially certified tutors will be to deliver a BWF Level 2 Coach Education course in their countries, putting into practice the competencies, methodologies, and knowledge they have acquired.”

The education in European badminton never ends. The next stop will be at the RSL BEC Center of Excellence facilities, where the second edition of the ADVANCE Education will kick off with the first meeting from 18 to 23 June.
