Serbia launches successful Para event

The first "Open Para Badminton Day Serbia 2023" took the National Badminton Center in Ada by storm on Sunday, December 24th breaking barriers and celebrating the spirit of inclusivity in sports.

Under the patronage of the Badminton World Federation, Badminton Europe Confederation, and the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Serbia, the event went beyond the ordinary sports event. It was an exceptional day filled with insights, eye-catching demonstrations, and social interactions aimed at exploring the possibilities and beauty of Para badminton. 

The day was marked by an inspiring lecture from Milan Barbir, the Head Coach of the Serbian National Team, underlining Para badminton's power to unite and support individuals with disabilities in sports. Participants enjoyed a hands-on experience in Para badminton's dynamic world through an interactive session led by national team coach Nikola Mijačić and coaches from the Badminton Club Belgrade.

Radomir Jovović, President of the Executive Board of the Badminton Association of Serbia, expressed optimism about the event's impact, stating: "We hope that the Open Para Badminton Serbia 2023 will serve as a catalyst for further development of Para badminton in Serbia, creating a true environment for inclusiveness, unity, and sports competition".

The event drew the attention of high-profile officials such as Vice President of the Paralympic Committee of Serbia Nemanja Radović, President of the Belgrade Sports Association for People with Disabilities Draženko Mitrović, as well as representatives of the Association of Achondroplasia Serbia – Little People of Serbia along with members of SSOSIB gracing the occasion.

Open Para Badminton Day Serbia 2023, organized by the Badminton Association of Serbia, stands as a significant stride in promoting Para badminton, raising awareness about the needs and incredible potential of individuals with disabilities in sports.
