Russia’s pool of talented female players is rapidly growing, and currently ranked 60 in the world singles player, Natalia Perminova, has some solid advice for the players coming through.

Perminova came into the sport as a young talent herself, winning a girl’s singles bronze at the 2009 European Junior Championships, she has since won senior titles and many team event medals for Russia. Perminova has this simple but important bit of advice for the young players coming through today.

- You have to believe 100 per cent in the path you choose for yourself.

Perminova, 28, had her best year in 2014, where despite not reaching a final, had a series of consistent results which allowed her to break into the world’s top 40. Having gone through this journey herself, she also adds that as well as being a professional, you must not forget to.

- Enjoy the process!

I love badminton

When asked what she loves about badminton, the Russian international stated.

- I love badminton and I am very grateful to my grandfather who brought me into this sport. I would definitely not have gone in another direction. I would choose it again.

With badminton being such a large part of her life, would Perminova be looking to stay in the sport after her competitive years?

- After my badminton career, I see myself still in badminton. I am truly passionate about badminton and development.
