Two former champions meet
The women’s draw threw up a group containing two former champions. In group one, the current and five-time champions Denmark will have an opening match against the 2006 champions Netherlands. It is a match up we have been entertained by many times over the years at the European Team Championships and the Uber Cup.

Hosts France drew unseeded England in group three. Émilie Lefel, who was helping conduct the draw, commented about this match-up for the French women.

-I haven’t been too nice to my team, as it will definitely be a tough opening match against England for the hosts France. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for my teammates.

In the men’s draw, the French team who are looking for gold after winning bronze and silver at the previous two championships drew Hungary, Turkey and neighbours Belgium in group three.
