Badminton Europe’s Centre of Excellence player, Irina Amalie Andersen believes that there are still things to learn after the two tournaments in Azerbaijan and Spain.

Andersen managed to reach the semi-finals of the Spanish International in Madrid but fell short against Kirsty Gilmour.

Room for improvement

The young Danish Women’s Singles player believes that although she was happy with her performance in the second tournament of the block, there are still things she needs to work on.

Andersen managed to reach the last 16 of the Azerbaijan International in Baku but was beaten by Qi Xuefei.

The Dane then beat the same player in the quarterfinals at the Spanish International in Madrid to reach the semi-finals.

-  I was happy with the tournament and the very nice setup in Azerbaijan, but not quite satisfied with my performance though, Irina Amalie Andersen told Badminton Europe.

- It was nice to play in Madrid as well, and my performance came out a bit better than the week before.

Still learning

Andersen revealed that she learnt a lot of things from the match against Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour.

- Kirsty is a very strong player so I was happy to play against her. I will learn from this match as well and hopefully it will guide me in the right direction, Andersen said.

The 20-year old is also a new player at Badminton Europe’s CoE and revealed her thoughts on the centre.

- It is nice to have all the facilities in one place and I really enjoy the practice, she added.
