The European Mixed Team (EMTC) Qualification got underway in Milton Keynes on Friday afternoon with Belgium taking the win against Hungary and England dispatching Italy in the evening.

Belgium win comfortably

Belgium ran out 4-1 winners in their team tie against Hungary on Friday afternoon, with only Gergely Krausz managing to get a win for his side.

With four wins out of a possible five, Belgium will be happy that they have managed to take this one so comfortably.

We are really glad that we have won the final point, but of course we still have confidence that we would win the Mixed Doubles if we had lost in this one, Elias Bracke said.

Playing and competing against England is a nice challenge, we have a young and motivated team here, so let’s see what we can do.

England with wins across the board

The host nation in the Qualification of the European Mixed Team Championships was able to win all of their matches on Friday evening, in comfortable fashion against Italy.

The whole team has played really well today and we are really happy to come away with the 5-0 win, Lauren Smith told Badminton Europe.

Everyone has come out here today and wanted to get England off to a good start, winning  5-0 sort of shows other teams that we are out there to prove a point, Chloe Birch said.
