The 32nd edition of the Badminton Europe Summer School is currently taking place in the Danish town of Vejen. The small town with its 10.000 inhabitants is situated in the Danish region of Syddanmark (Southern Denmark).

55 players, 19 coaches and 10 Staff coaches are practising together at Badminton Europe’s flagship development project. 22 different nations are represented. All participants are practising and staying at the Vejen Idrætscenter, which offers perfect conditions for hosting such a big activity.

The Summer School is an intensive training camp for junior badminton players from Europe. The players train together at least two times per day and also experience a variety of outdoor activities.

A lot of new friendships will be made through an intensive badminton training environment. Other activities at the Summer School besides badminton training will include swimming and a football tournament. One highlight of the week is the singles tournament involving all players. Participants will also have an opportunity to go sightseeing in Vejen.

The BEC Women In Badminton (WIB) Working Group is holding its first coaching conference tomorrow. The speakers include former international player Judith Meulendijks, Coach Thomas Engholm from Denmark and Steve Gunn, the head of Great Britain’s Rowing Team. The speakers will present their thoughts on how within European Badminton we can help positively improve the position of Women in Badminton.

The BEC Summer School runs until Saturday.
