Exciting Semi-Finals day!


Carolina Marin is through to the final of the BWF Total World Championships in China!

 

The former world number one came from one game behind to win a thriller of a match.

 

The Spanish number seven seed will play either Pulsara V Sindhu or Akane Yamaguchi in the final of the Women’s Singles.

 

As we were again treated to an exciting day of singles matches with Shi Yuqi also going through to the final in the men’s singles.

 

 

Marin through to the final!

 

Marin showed her level of skill and determination to show the crowds in China exactly what she can do.

 

The Spaniard lost the first match to her opponent as she struggled to a 21-13 defeat.

 

In the second, Marin was very much back to herself as she took the game to Bingjiao as she won 16-21.

 

Taking it to a third game, everyone knows what Marin can do to her opponent in the final stages of a match and that was the case here, with her destroying her opponent and winning the match with a 21-13 win in the third game.

 

 

Yuqi too strong for Long

 

In the men’s singles, Chen Long who surprisingly beat Viktor Axelsen to get to the Semi-Finals lost against the number three seed Shi Yuqi, who is through to the final.

 

The first game was a comfortable win for Yuqi, coming from behind early on to win the game 11-21.

 

In the second, it was of a more complex task for Yuqi, but after starting the game well, momentum stuck with him throughout and won the game 17-21. Yuqi now goes onto play Japanese number seven in the world, Kento Momota.
