Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup won the all-Danish men’s doubles final against Mads Kolding and Mads Conrad-Petersen.

For the third constructive year it was an all-Danish final at the men’s doubles when Mads Conrad-Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding faced Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in a rematch of the 2016 European Championships final.

Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup were chasing their first European title, and they were off to a good start winning the first game 21-15.

Injury for Kolding
In 2016 at the European Championships in France Kolding and Conrad-Petersen, who entered their fourth straight European Championships final, won the final in three games, but in Huelva two years later it was time for revenge for Astrup and Skaarup.

But the revenge did not come the way that people might expect. Before going into the second game Mads Kolding had to withdraw with what looked like an abdominal injury.

That means that Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup are the new European Champions in men’s double.

- I am very satisfied and happy. I think we deserve to win. We played at a good and high level in the first game, and we have been well the whole week. We showed some good form today, Kim Astrup says.
