England clinched quarter-final spot

The English women’s team at the 2018 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships did what they had to against Poland to qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Chloe Birch did not struggle against young Wiktoria Dabczynska winning 21-12 21-12 in just 28 minutes securing England a 1-0 lead.

In the second women’s double Championship rookies Jenny Moore and Jessica Pugh played their first match as a pair, and it went well. England led 2-0 after a 21-16 21-17 victory for Moore and Pugh.

Debutant secures victory
European Championships debutant Abigail Holden, who plays the second women’s singles for England, secured the victory for England winning 21-16 21-16 against Oliwia Socha, and that victory also gave

- I am really happy. It is special to be the player, that secures the spot in the quarter-finals. The quarter-finals will tough. There are a lot of good teams, but I just hope, we can do good at get a medal, Abigail Holden says.

Through to the quarter-finals are also Denmark, Germany and Russia. The rest of the quarter-final contenders is still yet to be found. Remember you can watch the draw live on Badminton Europe’s Facebook page
