Petya wins at home

Bulgarian number one Petya Nedelcheva convinced on home soil by taking the women's singles title at the 2012 Bulgarian International. In an all-Bulgarian affair, the world number 23 beat her young compatriot Stefani Stoeva in two games (21-9, 21-18). Especially in the second game, the young Stoeva showed that she is one of promising female shuttler in Europe.

Kestutis Navickas of Lithuania beat surprising finalist David Obernosterer of Austria in three games to win the men's singles category of the 15.000 Dollars event in the Bulgarian capital. For the Lithuanian world number 92 it was the first title of the year.

The title in the mixed doubles was won by Michael Fuchs and Birgit Michels of Germany, who won in the finals against their younger compatriots Peter Käsbauer and Isabel Herttrich. "We are quite happy to start the season with a tournament victory. This will give us confident for the events to come", said Michael Fuchs.

The men's doubles competition saw a European-Asian combination to take the title. Former world vice champion Robert Blair from Scotland and his Malaysian partner Ben Shen Tan beat Andreas Heinz and Max Schwenger of Germany in two games.

And in the women's doubles, another title remained in Sofia after the sisters Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva triumphed in two games over Özge Bayrak and Neslihan Yigit from Turkey.
