The 2012 European Senior Championships finished on the Sunday with an exciting finals day. 16 different Member Association left the Bulgarian capital with medals yet it was the 92- strong English contingent that was the envy of Europe as, for the second Championships in succession, they stormed to the top of the medal table with a unrivalled haul of 58 medals - including 16 in gold.

Here are more statistics from Sofia:

The Gold medals were won by England (16), Germany (6), Denmark (4), Scotland (3), Russia (1), Belarus (2), Israel (2), Sweden (1), Poland (2), Finland (1) and the host Bulgaria (1).

In total 16 BEC Member Associations won medals.

The Fair play awards went to Heinz Regineri (GER) and Jessy Havelaar (NED).

The prestigious Fighter awards were won by Diana Koleva (BUL) and Igor Ponomarev (RUS). The latter Ponomarev has played all 10 European Senior Championships and also the 5 World Senior Championships.

Thorsten Hukriede (GER) won 3 gold medals and can celebrate the status of the most successful man at the championships. Dan Travers (SCO) and Harry Shadwick (ENG) both won 2 gold and 1 silver medal. And Christine Crossley (ENG) won 2 gold and 1 bronze and was the most successful woman in the Armeet Arena.

648 players from 29 different countries entered the competition.
