We are saddened to report that Associate Professor Dr. Aneta Yaneva died on July 24, 2017. After a short and severe illness, the great sports lecturer, coach, competitor and long-time member of the Council of the Bulgarian Badminton Federation, died at the age of 60.

Throughout her active life, Aneta Yaneva was a great promoter and an outstanding contributor to the development of badminton and sports in Bulgaria. In the fifty-year history of badminton, she will remain as one of the pioneers that developed sport at academic level with a significant trail among the trainees in the subtleties of this sport. Aneta Yaneva also helped and contributed greatly to activities for people with disabilities.

For her great merit, Associate Professor Dr. Aneta Yaneva has many times been awarded by the Bulgarian Badminton Federation and a number of other international institutions, and was also acknowledged by the BEC Women in Badminton Commission, who granted her a scholarship in connection with Badminton Europe’s 50th Anniversary and Congress earlier this year.
