Two events. Two victories. The name of the tournament in Gatchina is Baptiste Careme. The French landed a double victory at the 2012 White Nights International Challenge (15.000 US Dollars) as the 26-year old took the men’s doubles and the mixed doubles title. Careme – together with his partner Audrey Fontaine - was the first player on court at Sunday’s finals. The French mixed duo beat the Poles and third seeds Wojciech Szkudlarczyk and Agnieszka Wojtkowska in two straight games 21-17, 21-10.

There was more joy for Poland as the number one female shuttler Kamila Augustyn beat Chloe Magee of Ireland in three games to win the women’s singles category. Augustyn showed a strong form in Gatchina by entering the finals quite comfortable without even dropping a single game. Dmytro Zavadsky can celebrate his first international title in the year 2012. The Ukrainian number one beat Poland’s Przemyslaw Wacha in three close games 16-21, 21-15, 21-18.

The men’s doubles finals was an all-French affair as Baptiste Careme/Gaetan Mittelheisser played Ronan Labar/Mathias Quere. The last match of the day ended with the second victory of Baptiste Careme as he and his partner Gaetan Mittelheisser beat the younger duo in two tough games 21-19, 21-19.

The women’s doubles final between the Russians Bibik/Chervyakova and Kosetskaya/ Varabyova was not played.
