Bilbao hosts the biggest Junior events of 2016

The city of Bilbao, located in the Basque Country of Spain, will the following days stage the biggest badminton junior event in 2017.

The BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships starts today and proceeds until November 6, while BWF World Junior IBERDROLA BWF World Junior Championships Eye-Level Cups will take place on November 8 and go on until November 13.

54 countries from all over the world are competing and 30 of them are from the European continent. The Asian confederation is represented by thirteen national member associations, Badminton Oceania - two, four countries are from Africa’s continent, and, finally, five are from America. 

Badminton Europe(BEC) the continental confederation with the most national member associations competing. But the fact is that Badminton Asia has eight countries ranked in the top 16, who are among favourites to take home the Suhandinata Cup, especially with China (1), Thailand (2), Indonesia (3) and Japan (4) in the top five. 

France is ranked no 5, and five other European countries accompany them in the top 16-ranking. BEC wishes all the 30 European member associations the best of luck in the two tournaments. Hopefully, the trophy will be coming with one of them home to Europe.

The European countries are the following; Armenia, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic (seeded 9-16), Denmark (seeded 9-16), England, Spain, Estonia, Faroe Island, Finland, France (seeded 5-8), Georgia, Germany (seeded 9-16), Georgia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland (seeded 5-8), Portugal, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia (seeded 5-8), Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine. And BEC wishes all of them the best of luck during the two tournaments in Bilbao.
