North Atlantic Camp in Akranes (ISL) began Monday July 18, with participants from the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland - eight participants from each country in the age groups U13 - U17.

Head coaches Boxiao Pan (SWE) and Tinna Helgadottir (ISL) led the team of coaches: Þorkell Ingi Eriksson and Anna Margrét Guðmundsdóttir from Iceland, Regin Hammer and Pætur E. Jacobsen from Faroe Islands, Pele Jeremiassen, Jakob Ludvigsen and Søren Brønlund from Greenland.

Training sessions was a mixture of forecourt practice, rear court practice, attack, defence, flexibility, recovery and power. Both singles and doubles and training in smaller groups was practiced. Furthermore, they did multi feed-sessions where the focus was on coping with pressure but there was also time for "fun games".

They started at 9:00 every morning and finished at 21:00 in the evening. The days were well organized and busy, and the participants went very tired but also very happy to bed every night.

A coaching course was also happening on the site of the camp, where two coaches from each country participated, except three from Greenland.

One of the days, the whole group went on a trip to "the Golden Circle" where they saw Gullfoss-waterfall, geysers and Thingvellir - where the national parliament of Iceland was established in 930 and held it´s sessions there until 1798.

Looking back on the camp it was a great success. The players worked hard and were sweating every day, but in the end it will help them to become better badminton players with higher skills. Organizers were happy to have gathered players from the North Atlantic-area not only to train and practice, but also to meet and make personal relations.
