The finals day of the European U17 Championships in Portugal saw players from five different countries taking the five individual titles. In the men's singles, Alex Lane of England played a fantastic overall tournament. He beat Denmark's Rasmus Gemke in two games 21-19, 21-9 and is a well-deserved successor of Viktor Axelsen, who took the title two years ago in Slovenia.
Another brilliant performance during the entire week showed Bulgaria's Stefanie Stoeva. The top seed of the woman singles category didn't drop a single game in the whole singles competition. In today's final, the girl from Chaskowo proved too strong for Julie Finne-Ipsen as she could land the title by beating her Danish opponent quite comfortable 21-11, 21-9.

The men's doubles final was an all-Danish affair between the top seeds Viktor Svendsen/Mads Sørensen and Patrick Bjerregaard/Peter Correll. The latter pushed their compatriots in the second came - and were close in forcing them into a third game. In the end Svendsen and Sørensen landed the title by winning 21-16, 22-20.

The women's doubles gold medals went to Russia's Olga Morozova/Nataliy Rogova, who beat English pair of Jennifer Moore/Victoria Williams in two games.

The closest match of the day was the mixed doubles finals between Iikka Heino/Mathilda Lindholm of Finland and Aleksandr Zinchenko/Olga Morozova from Russia. After both pairs had won a game each, the deciding game was "directed" by Alfred Hitchcock. In a nail-biting rubber-game the Finnish duo landed the victory by winning it 26-24.

Congratulations to the new crowned European U17 champions and of course to all medal winners!
