The very first BEC Para-Badminton Education Course will take place in Veenendaal, Netherlands from 11-13 December 2015. This education course is organized by Badminton Nederland in co-operation with its flagship club, Badminton Duovereniging Veenendaal.

It is Badminton Europe and Badminton Nederland´s maiden course organized primarily for coaches and administrators who are interested to work with para-badminton. The organizers are looking forward to welcome all the participants from the 52 Member Associations in Europe.

The objectives of this course are:

To educate para-badminton coaches and administrators by sharing knowledge of para-badminton
To increase the information flow around para-badminton between Member Associations
To increase the number of active para-badminton coaches and administrators in Europe

This education course is made possible with the support of the Badminton World Federation´s para-badminton grant, subsidy from Badminton Europe and the resourceful organizing team from Badminton Nederland.

´We hope that by organizing this course, coaches and administrators get to know more about the para-badminton set-up and will bring back the knowledge and experiences gained to help develop para-badminton further in their federations.´ Joăo Matos, BEC Para-Badminton Commission Chair

The course will take place in the hall of Badminton Duovereniging Veenendaal situated one hour from Schiphol Airport. It starts on Friday and ends on Sunday. Participants will go through a stretch of interesting programme which suit both the coaches and administrators.

On hosting this event, Badminton Nederland and Badminton Duovereniging Veenendaal shared, ´ We are proud to have been given the opportunity to host the first BEC Para-Badminton Education Course and will do our very best to make this a great experience for all the participants. Welcome to Veenendaal which we call "Sportstown Veenendaal" and have a great stay in our beautiful town.´

The organizers in a nutshell

Badminton Nederland was founded in 1931. The national badminton federation now has a total of 520 clubs and 45.423 registered players. The Dutch team was represented by four para-badminton players in the recently concluded BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2015 in Stoke Mandeville, England in September. Megan Hollander was the best performer among the four players where she bagged a bronze medal in Women´s Singles in the Sport Class of SU5.

Badminton Duovereniging Veenendaal is a midsize club located in the centre of Holland. It was founded in 1969 and at the moment there are about 150 badminton players with 10 para-badminton players. This club is the flagship in the field of para-badminton in the Netherlands and has been very active with para-badminton since 2013.
