China secured their 14th BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships title, defeating Indonesia 3-1 to win the Suhandinata Cup. Malaysia and Korea finished as runners-up, both showcasing some incredible badminton over the past few days.
France finished sixth at the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships 2023, losing 0-3 to Japan in the final match-up. Despite the slight disappointment, France came out of the team event with a lot of positives, as they were the only European nation to finish in the top 10.
Lanier, who made a remarkable return from injury to compete, emphasized the significance of this result for the budding talents in French badminton. Lanier stated, “It’s good to show that the new generation are getting better and better. The only problem is that we don’t have so many players. The BWF World Junior Championships continue with the Individual event set to begin today at 6 pm (CEST). A total of 414 players will battle it out for the Eye-Level Cups from October 2 to 8.
Among the European players to watch out for, Italy's Gianna Stiglich, seeded fifth in the women's singles draw, stands out. In the men's singles, top-seeded Alex Lanier from France is the one to watch, while the fourteen-year-old European U17 Championships 2023 runner-up, Tiago Berenguer, competes for Portugal.
Germany’s David Eckerlin and Simon Krax are seeded second in the men’s doubles draw and will start their campaign in Round 2. The women’s doubles feature the fifth-seeded pair of Elsa Jacob and Camille Pognante from France. Elsa Jacob, in addition to her doubles endeavour, is also seeded fifth in the mixed doubles draw, where she partners with Tom Lalot Trescarte.
