After Malaysia and India Open, the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2023 is the third stop of this year's first Asia tour.

The BWF Super 500 tournament will be taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from tomorrow until Sunday, 29 January. Top players from all over the world are getting ready for the Super 500 tournament.

Viktor Axelsen, champion of last year’s edition of the Indonesia Masters, decided to withdraw after two full weeks of intense competition. The Dane won the Malaysia Open and was the runner-up of the India Open 2023 but is not set for a third go: “(…) my body is not ready for another week of competition”, shared Axelsen in a Twitter post.

In contrast, Anders Antonsen is sharing his excitement to be playing again at the Indonesia Masters, after his injury: “First time playing in Istora Senayan since 2020. Good to be back”, posted Antonsen in his Instagram stories.

Tomorrow the qualification round begins, but five European doubles pairs will be already playing in the main draw, in the round of 32. In men’s doubles, Ruben Jille and Ties Van Der Lecq (Netherlands) will play against Sabar Gutama and Moh Reza Isfahani (Indonesia). Following the Dutch duo, Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen are the next Europeans to play. The Danes are sixth-seeded and will face Ren Xiang Yu and Tan Qiang, from China.

Debora Jille/ Cheryl Seinen, Lucas Corvee/ Ronan Labar, and Margot Lambert/ Anne Tran will also have their matches later in the day.

Over the week, more top players will have their chance to thrive. Carolina Marín is seventh-seeded in women’s singles and will play against Wen Chi Hsu in the first round. Mark Lamsfuss/ Isabel Lohau, Thom Gicquel/ Delphine Delrue, Robin Tabeling/ Selena Piek, and Gabriela Stoeva/ Stefani Stoeva complete the list of the European seeded players of the tournament.
